Automated Surface Finishing FANUC Authorized Integrator, AV&R has designed a complete robotic solution to automate the surface finishing and visual inspection of knee implants. This robotic finishing solution utilizes a FANUC LR Mate 200iD equipped with a FANUC FS-15iA Force Sensor and Schunk Gripper. The compact and ergonomic footprint of this system optimizes floor space while increasing quality and repeatability. The robot utilizes a belt sander to sand the knee box, reducing abrasives consumption. The ultra-polishing process following belt sanding ensures a smooth, mirror-like finish every time, resulting in part consistency and quality. Each knee implant goes through a final automated visual inspection to ensure quality.
