One SCARA robot continuously picks quart-sized cans of paint from an indexing ring and packs them into boxes. A second indexing ring circulates full boxes to a second SCARA robot that continuously unpacks cans and returns them to the first indexing ring. Both indexing rings are aux axes to the SCARA Robot controller and driven by FANUC servo motors controlled by the Power Motion i-MODEL A multi-process control.

The Robotic Printer Applicator (RPA) is designed to accurately place barcode labels on products, packages, and pallets. Created using Vanomation’s XYZ patent, the RPA8000 eliminates the need for a separate controller network by embedding the spatial coordinates for the label directly into the label data print stream. Robotic Auto Rivnut Assembly FANUC Authorized Integrator, Paramount Tool has designed and built a robotic auto rivnut assembly system for fastening beams. This automated system starts with the loading of fixtures attached to a dual sided turn table with dual fixtures. This allows an operator to unload and reload one set of fixtures while the robots perform the riveting assembly process on the other side of the turntable. After loading the fixtures, the operator presses cycle start on an HMI to start the process. The operator is protected from any turntable motion while loading and unloading via light curtains while in the loading area. After the operator is clear of the turntable, it rotates unassembled parts into the cell to start the process. The rivnut assembly process is performed by two FANUC M-20iA robots, utilizing FANUC iRVision/3DL to locate holes in the beams to be riveted. The rivnuts are fed to the robot EOAT via an automatic feeder, reducing assembly time. After all rivnuts are assembled, the fixture rotates the finished beams out of the cell for unloading of the assembled beams and reloading of the unassembled parts. Robotic Assembly FANUC Authorized Integrator, Edgewater Automation has designed and built a custom assembly system for automotive swing arm assemblies. The original production line utilized six operators spread across three different work cells. The operators used heavy equipment to complete a series of manual tasks to manufacture the swing arm assemblies. Though the customer was using robotic automation in each work cell, the robots and tooling were limited to performing singular tasks. There was also a lot of stopping and starting as operators moved in and out of the work cell to clear debris, execute the manual tasks, and orient parts and equipment. The improvements Edgewater brought to their customer freed four of the six operators to focus on specialized tasks such as programming, inspection, and quality. It also replaced previously manual processes that were ergonomically challenging. This system can now accommodate variations in products using iRVision that was previously not possible.
