DDDrop Creates Industrial 3D Printers for manufacturers using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform

DDDROP creates 3D Printers to empower manufacturers with modularity, automation and quality. In 2004 the founders of DDDROP spotted a gap in the market. At the time, the market offered only two categories, large machines that deliver industrial results but were out of budget, or smaller affordable machines that were not able to deliver reliable results needed in the business and R&D market. Fast-forwarding to 2020, DDDROP developed their newest printer, the RAPID ONE, an affordable high-end industrial 3D Printer. Using SOLIDWORKS Professional connected to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the team could work on the printer’s design from the office, the customer’s site and at home. With SOLIDWORKS PCB the team at DDROP designed the layout of the printed circuit boards that drive the stepper motors to limit interference and optimize efficiency and power consumption. Leveraging SOLIDWORKS Simulation technologies, DDDROP delivered the promise of industrial application and quality for their customers. And using Flow Simulation, the team was able to effectively water-cool the print head, which provides better control over temperature fluctuation and ultimately lead to significantly better quality prints. Plastics Simulation provided insights in the way the various plastic filaments behaved during and after extrusion, to prevent the warping of parts. Making use of various integrated SOLIDWORKS Tools connected to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform ensured a smooth workflow across domains and departments – also when collaborating with external suppliers.
