ISCAR's barrel-shaped milling cutters comprise solid carbide endmills, MULTI-MASTER exchangeable carbide heads, and recently added single-insert indexable endmills. Although the accuracy of a single-insert indexable endmill is lower compared to a MULTI-MASTER or a solid carbide endmill, in many applications it has big advantages: • Single-insert tool is a cost-effective concept compared to the other options, especially in bigger diameters' range of barrel shaped mills. • A durable insert structure and highly rigid insert clamping enable to increase the feed per tooth compared to the feed values recommended for solid carbide endmills and exchangeable heads. • When operational stability is poor, decreasing the number of teeth contributes to achieving vibrations control. Barrel-shaped inserts are mounted on existing BALL PLUS tool bodies, adapters, and extensions which greatly simplify tool customization.
