Embedded intelligence - is it real?

Now in its 17th year, the embedded world Conference takes up the title of one of its precursors from the 1990s. Back then “Embedded Intelligence” was rather a vision of the future but now it is increasingly becoming reality and shaping more and more systems: from autonomous vehicles over image recognition and embedded vision systems to preventive and demand-driven maintenance in Industry 4.0 systems, from small edge computers to high-performance cloud servers. These developments not only open up immense possibilities and business opportunities, but are also closely associated with many technical, economic, social and ethical issues. In our panel discussion we want to discuss the actual state of Artificial Intelligence with regard to the embedded world. Also we would like to answer the question "is it real?" as of today. Prof. Sikora, head of the exhibition committee embedded world and chairman of the embedded world Conference will moderate the panel. He is looking forward to a thrilling dispute "With our first-class panelists we will discuss about the significance of Artificial and Embedded Intelligence today and in the future. We will try to look beyond the marketing slides and classify, when AI and ML are useful and when they are not. For those, who want to have an even deeper dive, the embedded world Conference offers a track on "Autonomous and Intelligent Systems" with two full days of technical presentations." Moderation: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Axel Sikora, Chairman of embedded world Conference Participants: • Prof. Dr. Michael Beigl, KIT • Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Forgó, University Vienna • Jim Tung, MathWorks 26.02.2019, Exhibitor’s Forum embedded world Exhibition&Conference 2019
