How The Conbotics Painting Robot Maximizes Efficiency In Today's Worksites | Safety by SICK

The ConBotics painting robot performs safe, precise, and fully automated painting – powered by SICK safety sensors and the Flexi Net controller. The ConBotics painting robot automates the coating of large wall surfaces with consistent, high quality results. Its workflows are defined and executed with precision from start to finish. Powered by SICK safety sensors and the Flexi Net safety controller, all safety relevant data is monitored centrally to ensure controlled and safe robot movement at construction sites. Obstacles such as paint buckets or people are detected instantly by the integrated safety laser scanners. The robot slows down, stops, and only resumes motion once the area is clear. It also identifies stairs and edges reliably and stops in time – a key safety advantage at multi level construction sites. Two incremental encoders capture speed, direction, and turning radius in real time. The protective fields adapt dynamically to the current motion of the robot. Before switching to a new wall section, a safety switch verifies that the arm is positioned safely. The result: A fully integrated safety solution for automated painting – combining sensor technology, safety control, and support from a single source. ConBotics and SICK deliver efficiency, precision, and safety for modern construction robotics. 00:00 – Challenge: Time pressure 00:16 – Painting robot: Automated coating 00:31 – Flexi Net safety controller 00:43 – Safety laser scanners: Obstacle detection 00:52 – Safe movement at construction sites 00:59 – Detecting stair edges safely 01:10 – Incremental encoders: Speed & direction 01:16 – Dynamic protective fields 01:22 – Safety check: Wall change 01:29 – ConBotics & SICK: A strong match Click here for more information: https://www.sick.com/blog-painting-robot-safety If you like this video, please give us a like below and subscribe to our channel. What Is LiDAR? Time‑of‑Flight, 2D vs 3D Explained (with Real Outdoor Tests)

What is LiDAR — and how do LiDAR sensors actually work? In this episode of Sensor Experts, we break down the basics of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology, time of flight measurement, and the difference between 2D and 3D LiDAR in a clear and practical way. It’s perfect for automation newcomers, students, and tech enthusiasts looking for a simple introduction to modern sensing technology. LiDAR plays a critical role in applications like mobile robotics, autonomous navigation, obstacle detection, and outdoor industrial automation. Join Aaron as he explains how LiDAR sensors use light pulses to measure distance, the principles of time of flight measurement, and where you’ll see LiDAR in the real world. Then travel with Evgenii to SICK’s Outdoor Technology Center in Waldkirch, Germany, where SICK LiDAR sensors are tested in rain, dust, sunlight, and extreme weather. Whether you’re new to automation or just curious about how LiDAR shapes smarter and safer technologies, this video gives you a clear and practical overview. At SICK, we’re proud to be more than a sensor manufacturer. We’re your source for sensor education and real-world industry insight.
