Introducing safeVisionary2 – Safe 3D camera makes human-robot collaboration more efficient

Are you curious about how to make human-robot collaboration more efficient? Let’s see how safeguarding a collaborative robot with safeVisionary2 adds up to the application’s productivity. safeVisionary2 is a safe 3D time-of-flight camera from SICK enabling reimagined safety concepts for your collaborative robots. While a safety laser scanner detects people moving into the hazardous area on a 2D plane close to the floor, the safe 3D camera safeVisionary2 adds a 3D protective field to the application. Risks such as leaning over into the working area of the robot can be detected. This means in our case that the robot can continue to work in a reduced speed mode instead of being shut off while a person is safe even in the robot’s close proximity. As an added value, precise 3D measurement data delivered by safeVisionary2 help you with your automation tasks. Let’s move into new dimensions together with 3D safety and the safeVisionary2 from SICK. Introducing safeVisionary2 – Safety in the third dimension

Experience safety in the third dimension – with the world‘s first 3D time-of-flight camera with performance level c safety certification! Complementing traditional safety solutions such as safe LiDAR sensors, and safety light curtains, safeVisionary2 brings safety into the third dimension. Expanding protective fields from 2D to 3D, this opens up countless new possibilities and use cases, for example safe collision avoidance with AGVs or increasing efficiency with collaborative robots. Thanks to the precise measurement data, the camera also reliably solves automation tasks, thus eliminating the need for additional hardware components. With its small dimensions, safeVisionary2 can be used in applications where space is limited. Using the Safety Designer software, configuration of the safeVisionary2 will feel familiar and as intuitive as with other safety products from SICK. Safe and productive robot applications — Partner up with SICK!

How can you make industrial robot applications both safe and productive? Wherever cooperative and collaborative robot applications need to be safeguarded, the modern safety concepts and sensor solutions from SICK help you solve your challenges. For cooperative environments, SICK safety systems take over crucial protection tasks. Our Safe Robotics Area Protection safety systems sBot Speed, sBot Stop, and sBot CIP each consist of preconfigured safety sensors such as safety laser scanners, safety light curtains, and safety controllers, as well as the software packages you need – plus a comprehensive documentation. All this makes commissioning incredibly easy for you. Where cooperation between human workers and their robotic colleagues is possible, our safety solutions make sure they can team up for a productive alliance, letting the robot work with a reduced speed while a person can work safely in its immediate vicinity. SICK safety experts offer safety services worldwide, such as Force and Pressure Measurement for an efficient validation of robot limits for collaborative robotic applications. Stop food waste and mobile robots gestures - the winners from SICK Solution Hackathon

Two of 24 teams at SICK Solution Hackathon were able to convince the public jury: Varun Burde, Marina Ionova, Serhii Voronov, Elizaveta Isaianova (all Czech) and D. William Campman (USA) – the Testbed for Industry 4.1 Prague team – won the Technological Excellence category with their idea of a mobile robot controlled by voice and gestures. The idea behind it is that mobile robots are equipped with voice control as well as a camera and communicate via a 5G network in the cloud. In this way, the robot can be steered in a certain direction or stopped by simple gestures or spoken commands. In the “Best Business Idea" category, the audience voted the team with Marton Juhasy, Christian Mety, Helena Hauter, Bence Bejcyz and Emil Gregersen – the Copenhagen Collective, from the Technical University Copenhagen as the winner. With their solution, the five students aim to prevent organic waste in commercial kitchens and ensure that more food ends up on plates than in the trash can. The team used cameras and a sensor that can digitally map factors such as odor to visualize data about the condition of food from the refrigerator. The sensors trigger a signal on a smartphone when a defined threshold is reached, prompting kitchen staff to take action.
