In this video, Phillip Werr and Stefan Reuther, both members of the Executive Board at COPA-DATA, combine storytelling about Mozart's travels with practical insights from the industry. They explain why it is essential to replace outdated PLCs and IPCs with modern, software-driven architectures, and how zenon can assist in this transition. Key insights: - How automation architecture has evolved: from machine‑centric PLCs/IPCs to virtual PLCs and thin clients - Why decoupling logic from hardware and adopting cloud‑native patterns increases agility and resilience - The role of containerized, modular software in scaling production and simplifying maintenance - How COVID‑era supply problems highlighted the risks of proprietary OT hardware and vendor dependence - The human benefit: making automation more accessible amid a shortage of skilled OT engineers - Market outlook: McKinsey’s tipping point - adoption of software‑defined automation is accelerating (5–10 years) - How zenon supports this transition with scalable industrial software, reliable data management, and cloud-ready solutions If you want to future‑proof your factory, reduce vendor dependency, and accelerate innovation, this talk explains the why and the how. You will also learn how to join the “Rebel Alliance” of companies already adopting software‑defined automation. Get to know zenon and start your journey ➡️ https://hubs.ly/Q04lQRg00
