Automated Plastic Mold Injection Machine Tending
Plastics Technical Solutions, Corp. has designed an automated system to orient, feed and place metal inserts inside an 8-cavity Injection Molding Machine for a medical device customer.
A FANUC SCARA SR-3iA robot, guided by FANUC iRVision finds and picks metal inserts from an Asyril 240 flexible feeder and places them into an eight-position nest.
After all eight metal inserts are loaded into the nest, a FANUC LR Mate 200iD/7L robot utilizes a custom EOAT to detect, pick and load the metal inserts into a Milacron-FANUC ROBOSHOT α-S165 Injection Molding Machine.
The dual gripping technology incorporated into the EOAT also unloads molded parts and places them onto an outgoing conveyor.
This system features a small footprint and fast cycle time; molding eight parts every 25 seconds.
