Vertical Cartoning System
FANUC's Authorized System Integrator, Serpa Packaging Solutions, has designed and built an automated cartoning system to erect, pack and seal cartons.
Cartons are erected with an orbital carton erector using a vacuum-assisted pre-break mechanism to ensure proper opening of each carton.
The bottom of each carton is then glued closed and presented for loading.
Leaflets are fed from a Serpa patented TL450 tray unloader where the taped trays are cut in each corner of the tray to allow automated removal to a powered leaflet feeder magazine.
Leaflets are then fed on to a trailing lug conveyor.
The leaflets are line tracked by a FANUC M-10iD robot and picked by a mechanical gripper. The head of the gripper rotates 90 degrees and places leaflets into passing cartons.
Vials are fed in two lanes from upstream equipment into starwheels to feed the vials on pitch onto a trailing lug conveyor.
Two FANUC LR-Mate 200iD robots will use dual line tracking to pick and place the vial from the conveyor and into passing cartons.
The top of each carton is tucked closed, sealed, laid down and discharged from the cartoner.
