INVITE and Festo show efficient commissioning of modular plants applying the MTP approach

Festo paves the way for modular production in the process industry: the technology leader Festo located in Esslingen am Neckar in cooperation with numerous end users, OEMs and manufacturers has realised the standardisation of the Module Type Package (MTP). Standardised formats for data exchange in engineering and production ensure that individual production modules can be integrated into higher-level automation systems regardless of the manufacturer. See the convincing MTP proof of concept for the integration of a production module equipped with Festo automation technology at INVITE Leverkusen (INnovations, VIsions, TEchnology), an independent innovation platform which, according to its own statements, develops the production and technology of tomorrow. In addition to Bayer, the TU Dortmund University and the Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf are also active in the INVITE network.
